AFTER 10 years of trading, our RSPCA shop in Old Colwyn would like to thank all the people who have supported us.
We were very hesitant in opening a shop in an area which is not on the tourist route and has very little passing traffic, therefore relying heavily on the locals.
We have certainly not been let down as many of our staff are local and a large percentage of our customers also. We are, by now, part of the community and realised how strongly our presence was needed when there were rumours we might be closing, a few years ago.
Our takings reflect the area and if we were not all volunteers (no paid managers here) we would not have been able to continue and certainly in the face of the present climate. We have seen our donations drop off quite dramatically over the last few months and this is not helped by kerb side collections of clothing and shoes which deprives us of extra income by way of rag collections.
As we wonder if charity shops will weather the economic storm we can only hope the animals, to whom our desperately needed funds are given, can survive such difficult times. They are usually the first to suffer. Please keep giving us your support.
Thank you on behalf of our dumb friends and companions.
