AS much as our MPs haven’t yet "got it" over the fury many feel over their expenses excesses, so too, it would seem, from his letter in your paper on November 5, Huw Roberts, Royal Mail Group’s "Director Welsh Affairs" doesn’t yet "get it" either!
Mr Roberts seems to tell us we must put up with the "hard sell" at Crown post offices, the marketing of services, unsolicited approaches by staff selling insurance, currency exchange etc, in order to keep the old post office going in a fierce marketplace!
Rubbish! I say. Turning off customers by these pestering staff, lobbying for trade, hardly makes the post office a place to support, in my view.
Mr Roberts does not seem to hear the complaints, many in your papers, and elsewhere, people have voiced on this matter. He fails to "get" the point, he merely asserts that, regardless of the annoyance to customers, the sales pitches won’t be either "toned down", "cooled off" or stopped. So, if you want to be bugged by sales pitches, then go to your local Crown post offices.
Pity Mr Roberts does not get it. To him I say, as for his staff’s pushy sales pitches "I don’t want it!"
