WITH reference to the recent letter from Huw Roberts, the director of Welsh Affairs Royal Mail Group in your views section.
He says he is concerned to read so many letters of complaint about Llandudno main post office in Vaughan Street. He defends the staff at this post office who give their customers the "hard sell", even though it is to the annoyance of their customers.
The Royal Mail and its services are still a valued service to the public I feel most would agree. However, as a resident of Llandudno I personally attend this post office and quite honestly dread going there as I know they will launch their "hard sell" tactics at me, even if it’s just a book of stamps I go in for!
Only yesterday I went into this post office to pay a water bill and immediately I was asked if I wanted to avail myself of their home insurance offer. I said no I only want to pay for the water bill, but straight away I was further pestered trying to sell me something else... to which I replied no, I only wish to pay for my water bill. The result of this seemingly simple transaction is that when I left I felt irritated.
I have decided not to use this post office any more and will use one about three times further away. It is clear to me and everyone else I expect who uses this post office that the "hard sell" tactics used by the staff is counter-productive and suggest it serves only to annoy their customers.
I also suggest if Huw Roberts is not known to the staff at this branch, that he goes in there to buy some stamps... and see how he feels when he leaves this building!
