I WANT to make it known to all who read the Weekly News that never have I suggested a new Boat House should be constructed at the Yacht Club area.
I could not imagine a worse place, all my evidence and extensive knowledge of the situation has been clearly expressed, even from 1998 when this first arose.
A copy of my letter to the Weekly News dated June 4 1998 is available to all. Then I stated that wherever a new Boat House is built or situated the same procedure would have to be carried out on reaching the slipway.
From experience the existing slipway is the ideal position all-weather wise. At low water and other times the boat will still have to be towed across the beach to a selected launching position. This at the discretion of the Coxswain and his knowledge of the bay, this varies according to weather conditions.
All this is backed up by filmed evidence and recorded. This is still, and always has been my opinion.
