AS someone who walks Bryn Euryn every morning and, until recently, walked it with my dog, I read with interest the article concerning dog fouling on this beautiful Nature Reserve.
Yes, I agree, the problem is getting worse but dog walkers are quite capable of 'bagging it' and carrying it to a bin, that is of course if they are responsible dog walkers, as I and many others did and still do.
Anyone who walks the Bryn, as I do, at the same time each morning would see the council vehicle negotiate a very difficult track 7 days a week, in all weathers, to empty the bins. This, in my opinion, highlights the problem with installing additional bins because there has to be vehicle access to empty them and that access only takes them to the house at the top of the track, where a second bin is installed.
I am in no way excusing the dog fouling, just the problem regarding providing extra bins, which would be most welcome. The subject of dog wardens is a repeat of the same situation we had about five years ago. It was explained, to those of us who raised the subject, that the dog warden, at that time, had a very large area to cover, which would present problems monitoring the Bryn.
If my memory serves me correctly, we were told that if we were able to supply the authority with the name and details of an individual whose dog was responsible for fouling they would take action! As you may well imagine, I doubt if that offer was ever taken up!
In the first instance how would you get those details from someone on the Bryn? Go up and ask them? Does this problem regarding the dog warden still exist?
