Jonathan Ansell wants to have fun at Rhyl Pavilion

FORMER G4 front man, X- Factor finalist and Sing If You Can contestant Jonathan Ansell just wants to have some fun when he brings his new solo tour to North Wales next month.

The former choirboy is looking forward to unveiling his latest tracks on the tour, which takes off around the UK after the Rhyl Pavilion Theatre gig.

"The tour is an excuse for me to have some fun. Having been in theatre for two years in Beauty and the Beast I can’t wait to get on stage and be myself.

"It’s a chance for me to perform some old hits, some G4 stuff and some new stuff from my solo repertoire" says Jonathan, dubbed the Justin Timberlake of opera.

"This is an opportunity for my fans to hear everything all in one and to hear my new solo work for the very first time.

"I’m really excited to perform in Rhyl as it’s somewhere I have played before with G4 and I’m looking forward to coming back."

After shooting to fame in 2004 as part of operatic male troupe G4 on The X- Factor, Jonathan and the band went on to outsell series winner Steve Brookstein, record a number one album and two further platinum-selling albums.

But in 2007 the band announced it was to split.

Jonathan has now found time to embark on the tour after spending time in the theatre and making charity appearances on programmes such as Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Come Dine With Me.

He added:"I’ve got some fantastic singers working alongside me and the show is going to be incredible.

"I’ve visited North Wales before during my time on Whistle Down the Wind.

"I especially remember Llandudno, I was really taken aback by how beautiful it is. The pier is lovely and it’s like time stands still when you first see it."

As well as listing the likes of Bon Jovi, Meat Loaf and Aerosmith as some of his influences, he has also found inspiration in Welsh artists too.

"Tom Jones has had such an excellent career, he’s a real example of how to keep progressing.

"I also really like Bryn Terfel, he has such a phenomenal, rich voice."

He appeared on the opening show of Sing If You Can, presented by Keith Lemon and Stacey Solomon.

Jonathan described the experience as "the most mental show ever" after he sang a version of Katy Perry’s Firework while balloons were popping around him.

He said: "Keith Lemon is crazy, he’s no different off camera than he is on.

"People said my challenge wasn’t the most difficult, but the ferocity of one of those balloons hitting me left me with a scar on my arm. I’d do it all again for charity though, it was such good fun."
