Led Zeppelin tribute to rock Theatr Colwyn

THE UK’s only full time professional Led Zeppelin tribute band lands at Theatr Colwyn next month.

Approved by Led Zep’s guitarist Jimmy Page, Whole Lotta Led browse through the heavy rock band’s back catalogue.

From humble beginnings 13 years ago, the Gloucestershire based band has progressed to playing major venues, some of which Led Zep themselves actually played. The band recently celebrated their 1,000th gig.

Whole Lotta Led are no Stars in Their Eyes lookalikes, instead they concentrate on the music. The current line-up has been together for nine years and consists of Nick Ferris on guitar, Geoff Hunt on bass, Graham Twist on drums and Lee Addison on vocals and harmonica.

Their shows consist of songs from the Zeppelin repertoire, including the classics Whole Lotta Love and Stairway to Heaven.

The band also include acoustic numbers in their shows.

It’s a rare chance to hear the songs performed live.

When Led Zeppelin reformed in December 2007 for a special one-off show at London’s O2 Arena they caused a media frenzy, with millions of applications for the 20,000 tickets.

For a lot of people this may have been the first they had heard of the band, as in their heyday they shunned TV and never released singles. Despite this they became the biggest rock band of the 1970s.

Rumours that the success of their O2 show would tempt them to stage a full tour have been quashed by singer Robert Plant who wishes their legend to remain intact.

Whole Lotta Led, Theatr Colwyn, November 14, tickets £12 from 01492 532668 or 872000.
