SQUEAKY voiced comedian Joe Pasquale is set to hot foot it to Llandudno.
And he loves nothing better than an invigorating jog on the Prom. Mind you, that’s one of the lamer things that the funnyman’s got up to in recent years.
He’s braved the Australian jungle on the reality TV show I’m A Celebrity - Get Me Out Of Here, entertained troops in Basra and flies his own Piper Warrior plane.
But his next assignment will be to amuse fans on a UK tour.
"I like it in Llandudno because I always go for a run on the beach before I do the show to warm up. It’s also a great theatre. It’s a new show because I get very bored doing the same stuff," he says from his Kent bungalow.
He adds: "I’ve got a great support act this year called Steve Rawlings. I almost won’t tell you what he does because it puts people off - but he’s a juggler. He takes juggling to a new level. It depends on the person. He could be juggling chainsaws but if he’s a boring old git people aren’t interested. But Steve’s brilliant. A lot of people use support acts which are rubbish so the audience thinks the second half is great. But I think people deserve value for money."
Putting the wow factor into the support act shows Pasquale is genuinely thinking of his fans.
But what can fans expect from charming Joe himself then? Well, certainly not political jokes.
Pasquale says: "I don’t do politically minded at all although I am an official member of the Monster Raving Loony Party. I couldn’t do any worse than the other lot. I can’t promise a solution to the global meltdown, but I can offer two hours of escapism. The show is going to be more ridiculous than ever. We’ve got some great new magic, mishaps and music and my trusty ‘twin’ brother, Raynard, will be there too.
Pasquale will also tease fans that he has discovered through ‘extensive research’ on the internet that he is descended from Nostradamus. Part of his anatomy is pickled, and it makes predictions on stage. Don’t worry, it’s a family show.
Pasquale has had several careers before entering showbusiness.
Essex-born Joe dropped out of school aged 15.
He worked for the Civil Service’s Department of Transport before joining Smithfields meat market.
The hours at the meat market became too much for a young Joe, so he left to work at a building site and at the Ford factory in Dagenham. For a few years, Joe worked as an entertainer at holiday camps across the UK and became entertainment manager at Warner Holidays Corton in Suffolk. Later, he became entertainment manager at Torquay.
The big break for Pasquale, who has three children, finally came when he entered and came second in the New Faces competition in 1987.
Joe Pasquale is at Venue Cymru, Llandudno, on July 27, 8pm. For To buy £16.50 tickets, ring 01492 872000 or visit venuecymru.co.uk
