Elvis tribute to rock Colwyn Bay

GET set for a night of Jailhouse Rocking when the King of rock ‘n’ roll comes to Colwyn Bay.

Gordon Hendricks, one of Britain’s most successful Elvis impersonators, is set to wow audiences at Theatr Colwyn on July 4 with his tribute to one of music’s greatest icons, in what will be his first show in the region.

"I’ve never actually played the town before, and I’m really looking forward to the show in Colwyn Bay," he said.

"There are a lot of Elvis shows and impersonators out there, but because this show uses members of his original backing band, it’s one of the closest you’ll get to seeing Elvis himself."

Mr Hendricks says that being brought up in a family of lifelong Elvis fans spurred his interest in the Memphis singer from an early age, and began to sing the star’s extensive back catalogue from the age of eleven, before winning the Stars In Their Eyes grand final in 2005.

Red Alert, his backing band, includes Elvis’ original drummer, DJ Fontana and The Sweet Inspirations, and their award-winning show is set to take fans on a journey through all of Elvis’ big hits, from the 1950s to the Vegas years.
