CELEBRATING the best of Broadway and West End live performances, a show ‘with a glow’ brings a medley of favourite musicals to Rhyl next month.
Masters Of The Musical comes from the producers behind the acclaimed stage adaptations of popular TV sitcoms Dad’s Army and ‘Allo ‘Allo, accompanied by a live band and featuring a selection of numbers from some of the greatest musicals in history.
Marking its 10th anniversary year with a 40-date spring/summer tour, spanning the width and breadth of the country, Masters Of The Musical has received glowing reviews being described as ‘far above other musical compilation shows’, leaving audiences ‘spellbound’.
The history of the musical lies predominantly in operetta although the birth of the modern-day musical came about in 1927 when Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein developed their masterpiece Show Boat.
Since then, composers including Porter, Irving Berlin, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Weill and Gershwin, Sondheim and of course, Andrew Lloyd Webber, have all presented a wide selection of equally mesmerising musical experiences that stay firmly in the minds of their audiences. Masters Of The Musical is no exception as it whisks audiences on a multitude of resonant journeys through powerful medleys of the very best.
The cast of talented West End performers comprise John Langley, best-known for his starring role in the international tour of Mamma Mia, alongside Winnie Clarke and husband and wife team Ed and Lynn O’Driscoll.
Commenting on the show’s 10-year success story, producer Ed O’Driscoll says: "The show owes its resounding success to the great talents of musical history. We’ve always striven to provide audiences with a taste of the very best from the past 100-years, employing the finest skills on offer.
"I’m pleased to say that in these ever-changing times, the musical continues to excite young and old minds in equal measures, encouraging us to sing, dance and tell stories; in many ways fulfilling the fundamental needs, readily identified in the most societies."
The show includes favourites from hits such as Grease, Mamma Mia, Blood Brothers, Wicked, Les Miserables and many more in two enthrallingly energetic hours of entertainment that no lover of the musicals will want to miss.
Masters Of The Musical will be at the Pavilion Theatre, Rhyl, on Saturday, May 9.
