Pink Floyd’s rock opera hits Venue Cymru

PINK Floyd fans are in for a treat when rock opera The Wall comes to Venue Cymru next week.

Performed by The Australian Pink Floyd Show, the iconic stage show, The Wall features animation, lasers and a special greatest hits encore.

This tour coincides with the 30th anniversary of the release of Pink Floyd’s seminal classic rock opera, The Wall in 1979.

Following in the footsteps of prog-rockers’ previous albums, The Wall is a concept album, dealing specifically with the theme of isolation and its title echoes the barrier that came between the band and their fans.

In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine listed The Wall as #87 in its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

As a rock opera, The Wall centres on the character Pink, whose experiences are largely based on band member, Roger Waters' personal life. Classic Floyd hits are weaved around the twists and turns of the plot.

Colin Wilson, singer and bassist with The Australian Pink Floyd Show said: “This tour is a great way to celebrate not only the 30th anniversary of the release of the album The Wall but the life of Pink Floyd founder member, Rick Wright.

“Rick was such a big part of the whole Pink Floyd sound and we’ll be playing every song for him on this tour.”

The rock opera has not been performed live on this scale for over 25 years since Pink Floyd toured it themselves, but now it is back, in all its glory.

Floyd’s frontman, David Gilmour, has given the show his own glowing endorsement.

The Wall, showing in Llandudno on April 13, is a unique chance to hear again the likes of Comfortably Numb, Hey You, Another Brick In The Wall, Run Like Hell performed, along with every other track on the album.

Tickets are priced at £28.50, or £38.50 in the VIP area. Call 01492 872000 to book.
