Failed and Forgotten to rock Big Big Gig
A GROUP of teenagers from Eirias High School in Colwyn Bay are hoping their unique sound will win over the judges at a prestigious battle of the bands competition.
Hailing from Colwyn Heights, Failed and Forgotten hope to wow audiences with their alternative sound which they describe as a fusion of rock and indie.
Failed and Forgotten are the latest act to eye the impressive prize of a day in a recording studio on offer to the winners of the annual Big Big Gig; a competition organised to sift out the best bands of 18 years and under in Conwy county.
The band compromise of four 16-year-olds, singer and guitarist Jamie Harper, writer, piano and guitar player Keith Williams, Chris Prichard on bass and drummer Gaz Jones. Gaz explained the band are currently revising for their GCSEs but feel they have a chance of success despite their busy schedule.
“We’ve got at least a dozen of our own songs, Keith is writing all the time, he will have an idea and we will build on it,” he said.
“We played last year at this competition and came joint second, so we were quite chuffed.”
Gaz said: “When we started we sounded like the Arctic Monkeys, but we’ve got away from that indie scene and we want to do something a bit different now. We are into bands doing different things like Bloc Party.
Bands will play before a panel of judges over four heats at four of the Bay’s pubs on non-alcoholic nights aimed at the competition’s 18 and under age audience. A final will then decide the winner between 7pm and 10pm at Theatr Colwyn on Saturday, May 16. Tickets are priced £2.50.
