DISNEY fans are set to be delighted by a magical new production coming to Liverpool this month which stars the company’s classic characters.
Favourites from a wide variety of Disney movies will arrive at the city’s Echo Arena between March 20 and March 22 for a series of shows set to entertain audiences from across the region, but performer and professional illusionist Brad Ross says the family favourites will be up to a whole host of new tricks.
"It’s a thrilling adventure where anything can happen, and something that both children and their parents are going to be able to enjoy together. It features lots of magic, and shows the Disney characters in ways they haven’t been seen before," he said.
"It brings the Disney experience to life in a whole new way, and when we’ve performed it before, we can always see the eyes opening and the jaws dropping. People everywhere are just so curious about how it’s done, it sparks something off."
Mickey’s Magic Show, which will be performed over three nights in the city, follows on from previous Disney tours including Disney On Ice and theatrical productions such as High School Musical and sees characters from a number of the animation giant’s cartoons and feature films take part in a number of illusions and magical tricks, all performed under the guidance of Mr Ross, a New Jersey-raised magician.
"Disney crosses so many generational and international boundaries, and is loved the world over, so it’s great to be a part of that and to be able to help carry on bringing the magic of it to people of all ages. It’s definitely a world-class show, and something that’s completely unique," he adds.
"Mickey’s Magical Adventure is the first Disney show that’s been performed in India, for example, and everybody there knew the characters instantly and loved it. That’s something I’m very humbled to be a part of.
Among the characters appearing in the production are those from Ross’ favourite Disney film, Aladdin, but favourites from more recent Disney outings including last year’s computer-animated smash hit WALL-E, will be sidelined in favour of older screen stars from the likes of Snow White and Beauty and the Beast.
"At the moment none of the characters from the Disney/Pixar films appear, but the classic characters from the older films do. Many of them are just timeless, and are still loved by all generations," he says. "I am working on new illusions all the time so we could incorporate them into those, but at the moment I’m just glad to be able to bring the show we have to the UK."
Mickey’s Magic Show will be performed at Liverpool Echo Arena on March 20, 21, and 22, with tickets starting from £15.50. For details contact 0844 8000 400 or visit www.accliverpool.com
