Llandudno's Venue Cymru ready for panto season

CHRISTMAS is nearly here and even closer on the advent calendar is Venue Cymru’s festive panto!

Dick Whittington stars Only Fools and Horses‘ John Challis, Torchwood’s Kai Owen and comic John Evans and is showing at the Llandudno theatre between December 12 and January 4.

Among the stars of the screen is home-grown actress Kate Galston who is playing the character of Alice’s Fairy Godmother. Kate grew up in Llandudno, attended Ysgol John Bright as well as Coleg Llandrillo in Rhos-on-Sea and is looking forward to getting the show on the road.

As a star of the stage, Kate spends much of her time in London but says she is glad to be home and is hoping for lots of support from her family and old school friends.

“Panto is just good family entertainment – if you are feeling low it gets you tapping your feet to the songs,” she said.

“My character makes sure everything goes right when Alice makes a wish. Alice doesn’t know she has a fairy godmother, but I’m always watching in the background and making sure everything goes her way.

“I love Christmas, it is my favourite time of year, and it’s nice I will only have to walk up the road for my Christmas dinner this year! It is also nice to know people are supporting me – all my old friends are going to come and see me even though it is not the sort of thing they would usually go and see but they’re going to come because I’m in it.”

Tickets are priced between £12.50 and £16.50, with special school and group rates. For more information or further ticket prices contact the box office on 01492 872000 or log onto www.venuecymru.co.uk
