INDIE rockers The Kooks will play Venue Cymru in the midst of the festive rush as part of a UK winter tour.

The Brighton outfit’s second album Konk reached number one in April after a sell-out US tour earlier this year and the band will also be playing Hong Kong, Japan, Australia and Mexico before arriving in Llandudno in December.

The Kooks follow a barnstorming autumn/winter line-up at Venue Cymru with both Welsh rockers Feeder and The Feeling already booked in for November.

Fans can expect hits from The Kooks’ new album and their 2006 debut, Inside In/Inside Out which propelled them towards global success with hits such as Naive and She Moves in her Own Way.

Venue Cymru’s marketing manager Richard Jones was excited about the prospect of The Kooks arriving in North Wales and explained headlining acts were now attracting audiences from as far afield as Manchester. However Richard warned fans they would have to be quick off the mark if they wanted tickets.

“It is quite a coup for the arena, it is really good for Venue Cymru as they are quite a happening band and it is going to create quite a buzz in the box office,” he said.

“I should imagine, looking at past events the tickets will sell out the same day. After each event we do a postcode check and people are coming from as far as Chester, Liverpool and right across the North West from as far as Manchester.”
