Orchard open day and clean-up at Conwy

CONWY Orchard open day will take place on February 2.

Those who wish to help the Conwy Orchard Group clear scrub from the historic orchard beneath Conwy Castle’s turrets between 9am-11am should bring gloves and secateurs.

Pruning will then follow until 1pm before lunch is provided and then more trees are planted at the site in the afternoon.

The efforts are to re-establish a medieval orchard which previously occupied the site where Ysgol Cadnant stood on the Gyffin side of Conwy’s town walls. Denbigh plum trees have been found in the orchard, which is thought at one time to have been farmed.
