Junction playgroup is saved from closure

A LLANDUDNO Junction playgroup has been saved from closure by a local primary school.

Cylch Meithrin Maelgwn were forced to move out of their old venue at a cabin near the primary school before Christmas and considered closing as they were without a meeting place.

But Ysgol Maelgwn offered the playgroup an empty cabin and the charity is now able to continue providing care for over 35 toddlers and nursery children in the morning and early afternoons.

Playgroup leader Gaynor Mackintosh runs the charity with Llinos Lewis, and says everyone at the club is grateful to the school for offering the space to continue.

"Before, we were actually sharing a cabin with a private nursery," said Gaynor.

"It is wonderful that we are in the school now as it will be easier for the children, when they go on to school, to get used to it. If it wasn’t for Ysgol Maelgwn we would have had to close."

Cylch Meithrin Maelgwn takes place weekdays 9am-11am for children of two and a half years and between 11.15am- 1.15pm for nursery school children.
