Boy George gets ready for Venue Cymru

IT’S been 26 years since Culture Club first entered the British singles chart with the now legendary Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?.

But lead singer Boy George, who enjoyed a successful solo career and has gone from strength to strength on the DJ scene, is still going, and comes to Venue Cymru next week.

He has enjoyed international success and notoriety since his first television appearance on Top of the Pops in the early 1980s, in full make-up, dreadlocks and his own inimitable style he took both the music industry and public by surprise.

Some may say George’s life has been a soap opera played out in the tabloids since his meteoric rise to stardom. There is, however, one undeniable truth that his incredible and instantly recognisable voice has sold millions of albums worldwide.

George gets personal and talks openly about his years as a pop and fashion figure, his relationships, musical collaborations and the truth behind the tabloid headlines.

Although George will be riding solo, the audience should expect the very best of Culture Club, hits from his solo career and a few covers delivered in his very distinctive vocal style.

Although he has enjoyed success as a superstar DJ his real love is singing and performing live. In his own words: "I am probably one of the best-known people in the world and not necessarily for the right reasons."

This tour provides the perfect platform to prove the real reason – he is, after all, one of our best-loved performers.

Boy George performs at Venue Cymru, Llandudno, on Wednesday at 7.30pm. To book tickets call 01492 872000 or online at www.venuecymru.co.uk
