ALARM frontman Mike Peters has handed over a total of £40,000 to help fund local cancer treatment centres as a result of Snowdon Rocks, the highest concert in England and Wales, from the summit of Snowdon last summer.
The acoustic concert involved Mike and a band of fans, friends, hospital medical staff and a team of Royal Welsh Guards who all walked up the mountain. Mike also staged sell-out concerts at Rhyl Town Hall and Galeri Caernarfon.
And last week he took time out from rehearsals for a concert at Venue Cymru to pay whistle stop visits to the North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre at Glan Clwyd hospital and the Alaw Unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd with £16,000 presented to each hospital and a further £8,000 going to three local hospices.
Mike is already working with staff at the hospitals on this year’s Snowdon concert and hopes to launch the new campaign in the spring at Glan Clwyd.
"Mike Peters is one of our most prolific fundraisers and is always very supportive of all our fundraising endeavours, and this is a phenomenal result from his concert. We are extremely grateful for his latest contribution and look forward to working with him again this year," said Dr Audrey Champion, director of the North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre.
