REIGNING champions Colwyn Bay RBL were too sharp for hosts Penmaenmawr A and romped to a 10-4 victory in Section A of the North Wales Coast Bowls League.
Rhos Park A crashed 11-3 at Beaumaris, Mark Whiteley 21-6 the pick for the visitors, while over on the mainland bottom-of-the-table Bangor City celebrated their first win of the season with a resounding 12-2 rout of Llanrwst, John Bailey 21-13 the Rwsters’ best.
Pacemakers Denbigh A had to graft for their 8-6 win over second-placed rivals Blaenau Ffestiniog.
This narrow success extends Denbigh’s lead to 11 points but second-from- bottom Llanfairpwll were just pipped 8- 6 at home by third-placed Deganwy.
Section B toppers Rhos Park B had to settle for a 9-5 margin at home to Conwy.
Llandudno A helped Rhos’ title ambitions by pipping second-from-top Fron Park 8-6 with Caernarfon despatching Eirias Park 10-4 and Mochdre sharing a 7-7 split with Min-y-Don.
There were no matches in Sections C or D on Saturday.
LAST Tuesday in the Blackwell Hydraulics Welsh Counties League, there was no joy for hosts Deganwy Jones Roofing as they suffered a resounding 8- 2 defeat at the hands of invincible Esclusham who go 14 points clear.
Deganwy’s only winners were Scott Todd 21-4 and Daniel Jones 21-13 but the hosts kept the aggregate close on 133- 143.
Colwyn Bay RBL slipped to bottom place after falling 8-2 at Cunliffe in a 149- 101 split, Craig Richardson 21-10 the Bay’s pick, Chris Slater 21-13.
Llay saw off deposed second-placed Llanrwst 7-3, John Bailey and Martin Hughes, both 21-15, and Anthony Bailey 21-19 responding in a 154-122 margin.
Rhos Park and St Asaph figured in a rare 5-5 draw. Trailing 132-157 on the aggregate, Rhos missed out despite producing five winners due to Saints hero Lewis Scott carding 21-2.
Ivor Jones 21-13, Steve Lawley 21-14, Michael Whalley 21-17 and Mark Whiteley and Colin Evans, both 21-20, were the Rhos successes.

PETER Rigby and Denise Sumner won Llandudno Bowling Club’s Milner Mixed Doubles competition, beating Clive Brook and Eileen Rigby 21-8 in the final.
Semi-finals: Rigby & Sumner beat John T Jones & Hazel Hughes 21-15, Brook & Rigby beat Chris Armor & Doris Harding 21-13.
CRAIG-Y-DON Bowling Club recently staged the Doris Lee Goblet competition. In the final, June Kirsopp beat Liz Sylvester 21-13. June is pictured being presented with the goblet by Mike Beard, secretary of Craig-y-Don BC. Other semi-finalists were Vi Gillen and Joyce Burslem.

CONWY Bowling Club will host a family open bowls day this Sunday between 10am and 4pm in association with the WCGBA and Sports Council for Wales.
Equipment will be supplied with experienced coaches on hand to promote and encourage visitors of all ages to take up the game.
