AFTER two tough opening fixtures Craig-y-Don A find themselves at the foot of the Llandudno and District Table Tennis League first division.
However, credit to Graham Heath who overcame Y Morfa’s Norman Stagg and lost 14-12 in the fifth to Harold Furber. Conversely, Craig-y-Don’s B team opened with two good victories including a comprehensive 8-2 win over newcomers Amlwch B and are top of division two.
Dark horses for the first division title have also emerged in the shape of Police A. In a hard fought match against Denbigh A, the fixture was turned on its head by Police secret weapon Mark Pugh who won his singles matches with consummate ease and paired up with captain Tony Wan to secure the doubles..
Surprisingly two-man Junction beat Y Morfa B 7-3. Steve Nicholls won all his matches in five sets. Jim Paton secured his maximum in a slightly more comfortable fashion before teaming up with Nicholls to take the doubles.
