Water sport: Llandudno windsurfer wins at Rhosneigr

LLANDUDNO’S Louise Emery won the recent national windsurfing competition held at Rhosneigr on Anglesey.

The event was the second stop of the UKWA (UK Windsurfing Association) Wave Tour and competitors were greeted with 30 knots of wind and huge waves making perfect conditions for the wave sailors to be judged in.

Louise (pictured left) won the UKWA Ladies Wave Title in 2008 and is hot favourite to retain the title for 2009. However, it wasn't straight forward as in the final the ladies had to cope with three-metre waves and winds gusting up to 40 knots.

It was also an successful event for Llandudno Ski Slope manager Nigel Treacy who won the Masters fleet at Rhosneigr. Courtesy of Nigel, the 80 competitors enjoyed a exciting evening at the Ski Slope on the Saturday.
