ABERGELE Harriers can boast two new North Wales champions following this year’s Sun Centre 5k which once again incorporated the championships.
Club captain Darren Blazier finished fourth overall (17m 6s), just missing out on the prizes in the open race, but claimed the North Wales V35 Champion and the bronze medal in the North Wales championships.
Sean McCormack (18.00) was seventh overall, and second MV45 in the open and championship race, having also raced the previous night in Trafford where he posted a season’s best time of 9.51 for the 3,000m.
Hilary Jaques was 59th in 23.11, winning the FV50 category in both the open and Championship race.
Ed Reid (20.03) narrowly failed to scoop an award as fourth MV45. Keith Elliott (20.41) just missed out on another PB in 41st position. Haydn Jones (20.53) made a welcome return from injury, while Mark Mayers (23.17) ran the distance for the first time and Dominique Jones (36.56) was making her racing debut for the club. Jaime Ashton finished in 36.56.
