Squash: World tour squash set to return to Rhos-on-Sea

TOP seed Emma Beddoes from Nottingham, who is ranked in the top 40 in the world, won the $4,000 Women’s International Squash Players Association World tour event at a packed Le Sport Health and Fitness club in Rhos-on-Sea last weekend.

The 23-year-old reached the final without dropping a game, before beating unseeded Victoria Lust from Maulden in Bedfordshire, 11-9, 11-8, 11-3 to take the first prize.

Colwyn Bay’s Emily Whitlock, ranked No 1 in Europe at Under-15, came through qualifying to play Emma Beddoes in the last 16, but had to retire after pulling a hamstring in the first game.

The SiteQuest sponsored event, which attracted players from South Africa, Holland, Russia and Slovakia, was a success and Le Sport are now hoping to host another World tour event before the end of the season.
