BETWS-Y-COED finally got their season underway in Division Two of the Bayonet Winter Scratch Golf League with a 3½-1½ away win at St Deiniol (Bangor) .
Richard Jones, a 12-handicapper called up as a last minute replacement, earned a tremendous half against Bangor captain Gron Roberts. He led for most of the way and then kept his nerve on the last hole when the match was all square.
Marc Thomas, David Hughes and Andy Spencer were the Betws-y-coed winners.

In Division One Penmaenmawr suffered a 5-0 defeat at Holyhead, while Henllys drew 2½-2½ with Royal St David’s (Harlech).
OLD COLWYN inflicted a first defeat on top-of-the-table rivals Penmaenmawr in the Norman Brookes Winter Golf League and stay level on points with St Deiniol (Bangor).
Maesdu gained their first win by beating neighbours North Wales.
