Sailing: Kites dominate at Llandudno event

LLANDUDNO Sailing Club got back to its normal programme on Sunday last with the UKOBA (United Kingdom Outboard Association) Trophy being sailed in very light and shifty conditions.

This is a three-race, short series trophy donated in the early 1960s by Norman Brierley.

Paul Moreton, with crew Clare Kite, dominated the day, winning all three races.

On Saturday, the club hosted the CYRC (Welsh Yachting Association Youth Racing Circuit) when 26 entrants aged seven to 15 were racing in the Bay.

Nine-year-old Ashleigh Kite was best placed Llandudno competitor, coming second in the Optimist fleet.

Two races postponed because of bad weather have been rescheduled. The Winfield Trophy now takes place on October 12 and the Grand Hotel Trophy on October 26.

UKOBA Trophy – Races One, Two and Three (identical positions): 1st Paul Moreton and Clare Kite (GP14), 2nd Jodie Kite (Phantom), 3rd Gus Lees (Laser).
