Cricket: Mochdre in top six, while Tudno suffer shock loss

MOCHDRE edged themselves into the top six of the North Wales Cricket League Premier Division as they made it four wins in five starts with a superb victory at Bangor on Saturday.

Adam Campion’s side were put into bat at Ty Newydd and managed to score 205-9 declared off 49 overs, Australian Shane Mott taking 5-42 for the hosts.

Campion led the way with 49, while Gareth Davies added 33 and Will Evans and Aussie Aaron Fishwick 21 apiece.

Bangor were then skittled out for 146, Davies picking up 3-44, including the crucial wickets of Robbie Marshall (35) and Nicholas Roberts (31).

Campion snapped up 2-11, Fishwick 2-22 and Russ Boswell 2-26.

LLANDUDNO needed just 97 to win at Pontblyddyn, but the champions suffered a shock defeat as they were bowled out for only 83 at Alder Meadow.

Overseas star Gordon Kerr set Tudno up for victory by taking a magnificent 7-44 off 10.4 overs which meant he reached the 100-wicket mark in all competitions for the club.

Jack Rimmington grabbed 3-47, but a top score of 27 from number nine bat Julian Morris proved crucial to the match outcome.

South African Marcel Frenzel scooped 4-13 as the Seasiders capitulated, “Mr Extras” making their best contribution with 14.

CONWY lie an impressive third in Division One following an 85-run trouncing of Gresford.
Ed Favill (39), Philip Davies (35) and Shaun Davies (34) helped the Musselmen to a good score of 216-7 declared and the Colliers were then sent packing for 131, Daniel Davies 4-26, Jake Longmore 2-18.

LLANDUDNO SECONDS ended up victims of a nine-wicket thrashing to Northop at The Oval.
Tudno could only manage 92 all out (Alex Owen 33) and the Flintshire men hit back with 94-1.

LLANRWST won a thriller against Halkyn at Parc Gwydir by just two runs.
The Rwsters set 219-5 declared, Aussie Matt Cummins hitting 65, Nathan Jones 56, Aled Hughes 35 and Iwan Edwards 32.
Halkyn were then bowled out for 217, Tomos Slattery the hero with 5-23 off 13 overs as visiting pair Matthew Williams (82) and Duane Williams (77) threatened to steal the game.
