GAP CONNAH’S QUAY 0 LLANDUDNO JUNCTION 3
Barritt Cup holders Junction stayed on course for back-to-back successes in the competition after a comfortable 3-0 win at a Connah’s Quay side strengthened by the inclusion of some first team players.
On a wide pitch conducive to playing football, Quay produced some good stuff and closed down their opponents quickly, but Junction always possessed the more quality.
The visitors achieved the flying start they wanted when they took an 11th minute lead, Mike Lundstram applying the finish from a Luke O’Mahoney corner.
It remained 1-0 up to half time although the Railwaymen could have added to their tally, Lundstram hitting the crossbar while the lively Jake Cassidy had a couple of chances he was unable to take.
The second half was an open affair and it was not until the 75th minute that the Junction could start thinking about the semi-final.
Dwyfor Williams scored in typical style direct from a free-kick to double the away advantage.
And eight minutes from time the victory was completed when the 17-year-old Cassidy finally chalked up a well-deserved goal.
"We did deserve our win, but now we face a very tough semi-final at Gwalchmai who have already knocked out three Welsh Alliance sides," said Junction boss Shane Cartwright.
