LLANRWST UNITED 2 NEFYN UNITED 1
WELSH ALLIANCE LEAGUE
DETERMINED to put the previous weekend’s FAW Trophy penalties defeat at Rhydymwyn behind them, Llanrwst overcame a shaky start to beat in-form Nefyn at Parc Gwydir.
The visitors arrived high on confidence having only lost once in their last four games and soon took control, rattling the Rwsters’ goal frame twice before taking the lead when Martin Smith found himself unmarked at the far post.
Nefyn struck the woodwork again through Jason Jones, but as the half progressed Llanrwst came into the game and were rewarded when Aron Jones crossed for Lee Allen to score his first this season.
Owain Hughes had a chance just on the stroke of half time but sent his header from a Gareth Jennings corner narrowly wide of the mark.
Llanrwst started the second half as they had finished the first in the ascendancy and took the lead when Nefyn attempted a quick free-kick deep in their own half only for the ball to rebound to Mathew Evans.
His first shot was blocked by Jamie Turner only for the ball to fall once more to Evans who drilled sweetly into the bottom corner from 20 yards to make it 2-1.
Llanrwst then had the chance to wrap things up when Luke Roberts sprang the offside trap only for Nefyn keeper Neil Perkins to save smartly at his feet.
This Saturday Llanrwst visit Amlwch who gained their second league win of the season at the weekend with a superb comeback, recovering from 2-0 down against Llanberis to win 3-2.
Amlwch have been buoyed by the signing of David Evans who has amassed over 200 League of Wales appearances for Rhyl, Bangor City and Porthmadog. He has also played in Europe for Bangor and won the FA Youth Cup with Watford.
