Football: Hot Llandudno FC bag eighth straight victory

GRESFORD ATHLETIC 0 LLANDUDNO 3

EIGHT straight wins in all competitions and second in the Cymru Alliance – Llandudno are on a hot streak.

Joint manager Grant Montgomery could hardly be happier going into this Saturday’s home tussle with Berriew, but is still keeping his feet on the ground.

"Christmas time will be the indicator of where we stand in the league – after we’ve played everyone," he said.

Tudno maintained their fine form on Saturday with a 3-0 victory at bottom side Gresford.

"That’s five clean sheets on the bounce in the league," Montgomery added.

"When you’ve got a platform like that to build off it helps everything else to fall into place – long may it continue."

Young striker Toby Jones will still be missing with ankle damage against a Berriew side which Tudno have already seen off 3-0 in the Welsh Cup, but otherwise the Seasiders should have a full squad.

"Berriew held us to 0-0 for 90 minutes in the cup, so in the league that would have been two points dropped," Montgomery pointed out. "We’re expecting a hard game."

Tudno got at Gresford from the start, taking a fifth minute lead when defender Neil Coverley lashed home on the half-volley from 20 yards.

Four minutes later Sean Eardley’s through ball released Lee Thomas to make it 2-0.

Gresford had a good spell at the start of the second half, but otherwise Tudno were in control, hitting the bar through Ben Dews and Danny Hughes before Thomas put away an 81st minute penalty he earned himself.

LLANFAIRFECHAN TOWN came back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 at Pentraeth Nurseries in the Teejac.com Gwynedd League.

The Anglesey were three-up after 65 minutes, but goals from Ben Pugh (70 and 83) and an 89th minute striker from Rory O’Hagan rescued a dramatic point.
