Football: Extra-time win for Mochdre Sports FC

MOCHDRE Sports needed extra time to see off lower division Wepre Rangers 4-3 in the Mackenzie Jones Clwyd League President’s Cup first round.

It was 2-2 after 90 minutes, Adam Hindley and Joel Jennings with a late equaliser for Mochdre, and then in the added segment Rob Knowles and Grant Williams sealed the tie.

Two Josh Parry goals put giant-killers Bro Cernyw into the next round as they knocked out Sychdyn 2-1.

Llansannan crashed 3-2 to Connah’s Quay Town in the Premier Cup, an own goal and Gareth Lewis running the hosts close.

In Division One, Edward Haley grabbed a hat-trick in Rhos United’s 4-3 triumph at Mostyn Dragons, Matthew Head also on the mark, while Duncan Midgley hit four and Matthew Quinney and Dewi Joens two apiece in St Asaph’s 10-1 drubbing of Y Glannau, Steve Williams and David Gray adding singles.

Abergele Rovers Reserves went down 4-2 at home to Rhuddlan Town Reserves in the first round of the Halkyn Cup.

Leon Fields and Paul Demilow grabbed the goals for Gele, who trailed 3-0 and 4-1.
