Football: Penmaenmawr Phoenix FC lose at Connah's Quay

PENMAENMAWR Phoenix went down 4-3 at Connah’s Quay Town in Saturday’s top of the table clash in the Mackenzie Jones Clwyd League Premier Division.

Richie Roberts, Scott Williams and Denley Smith were on target for Pen, who remain the leaders on goal difference.

Mochdre Sports pulled off a pleasing 4-2 win over third-placed Rhuddlan Town, Keiron Murphy, Danny Ashe, Kyle Johnson and Glyn Knowles sharing the goals.

Sion Morris and James Davies were on the mark for Abergele Rovers in their 2-1 victory at lowly Sychdyn.

Man of the match Jordan Naylor and James Shone grabbed the goals which secured Llandudno Junction a 2-1 triumph at Halkyn United in the Black Dragon Badges Reserve Premier Division.

Llandudno lost 5-2 at home to Gap Connah’s Quay, Mark Owen and David Bellis claiming their consolation strikes.

Glan Conwy were heavily beaten 5- 1 at home by Denbigh Town, Tim Gledhill their only marksman.

Matthew Head scored a hat-trick as Rhos United advanced to the third round of the NWCFA Junior Cup with a 4-0 victory at Talysarn Celts of the Caernarfon League.

Colin Roberts added a fourth for the Clwyd League Division One outfit.

Tristan Williams bagged all three for Bro Cernyw as they put out Anglesey side Llandegfan 3-1, while Betws-yn-Rhos hammered Mostyn Dragons 7-3.

In the Safeflue Caernarfon and District League Division Two, Deganwy romped to a 7-1 home victory against Llanystumdwy Reserves.

Chris Lloyd bagged a hat-trick for the Castlemen, Tony Priestley, Jason Owen, Tom Roberts and Ashley Tomlinson completing the rout.
