Cricket: Colwyn Bay celebrate season with awards night

COLWYN Bay Cricket Club recently held their annual presentation night in the HSBC Suite.

Senior awards winners:

Player of the Season: first team – Charles Clubb; second team – James Jones; third team – Tom Roberts.

Optigon Trophy for best bowling performance – Glyn Gibbons; Dick Moore trophy for best batting – Charles Clubb; Ted Lewis Award for Services to Club – Glyn Gibbons; Jack Newton Shield for Under-15s Player of the Season – Arthur Jones; Brian D’Arcy Young Player of the Year – Edward Williams-Gray.

Juniors – Individual Player of the Season awards: Under-11s – Owen Rhodes; Under- 13s – A Team, Simon Hoerner; Under 13s – B Team, Shreyas Srivasta, Under 15s – Arthur Jones.

Sponsored by Pentraeth Honda, Colwyn Bay’s Under- 13s won the Eryri East League, Eryri League, Eryri Cup, Welsh Cup North and were crowned North Wales Champions under coaches Richard Stock and Ally Pitman.

THERE was a mood of celebration when Llandudno Cricket Club held its annual junior presentation ceremony at The Oval.

Chairman John Rimmington congratulated the Under-11s on winning both the Eryri League and the North Wales League final as well as Sean Kitchen, chosen to represent Wales at Under-13 level, Dan Evans and Jack Sissons, who were called up for U- 11s trials, and the many selected for the county across the age groups.

Individual awards: Under-11 Players Player of the Year – Jake Sumbland, U-11 Coaches Player of the Year – Dan Evans. U- 13 Players Player – John Beattie, U-13 Coaches Player – Hannah Thornton. U- 15 Players Player – Dan Evans, U15 Coaches Player – Lewis Jones.

Youth Player of the Year was presented to Tom Bleasdale while Sam Long received a mounted cricket ball for achieving a hat- trick.
