Saints leave it late but claim another crucial win in bid for the league title

DIVISION One North Wales League leaders ST ASAPH were made to really struggle before edging a one-wicket win over revitalised Pwllheli at Elwy Park.

The Llyn Peninsula visitors posted a respectable 174-9 declared off 48 overs, thanks largely to 84 from Chris Moore. For Asaph, David North collected 3-20 and Andrew Bellis 3-44.

Saints looked to be heading for a fairly comfortable victory until a flurry of wickets had them worried. They eventually got to 179-9 from 50 overs, Joe Lunn 38, skipper Richard Aram 34, Richard Partington 25.

It was a magnificent seventh straight win for the table-toppers but it could so easily have gone the other way.

ST ASAPH SECONDS lost by 68 runs at Dolgellau in Division Two, 203 playing 135-7.
