Bowls: Deganwy side have huge title intentions

DEGANWY Jones Roofing served notice of their Welsh Counties League title intentions by whitewashing Esclusham 10-0 in last Tuesday’s fixtures.

Colin Jones 21-9, Daniel Jones 21-10, Christian Pattinson 21-11, Darren Williams 21-13, Carl Lewis 21-14, Geraint Jones 21-15, Jane Bowler 21-18 and Peter Jones 21-20 were all victorious for the unstoppable host side.

Llanrwst edged a 6-4 verdict over Colwyn Bay RBL, the match finishing 4-4 in games but the Rwsters taking the aggregate by just seven points.

Kevin Williams 21-11, Anthony Bailey 21-12, John Bailey 21-14 and Joseph Pritchard 21-20 were the home success stories, the Bay replying through Steve Jones 21-14, John Crowl and Chris D Slater, both 21-16, and Alan Evans 21-18.

Rhos Park went down 8-2 at home to leaders Gresford, only Mark Whiteley 21-15 and Glyn Jones 21-18 coming out on top.

St Asaph pushed tough opponents Llay hard before falling 6-4, losing the tight aggregate 149-154, after finishing level 4-4 on individual matches.

Steve Dace and Gareth Wilson both won 21-17 with Ian Gibson and Rob Pierce settling for 21-18 margins.
