Big freeze wipes out North Wales sport

THE  big freeze wiped out the football and rugby programme in North Wales over the weekend.

All games in the Cymru Alliance, Welsh Alliance, Clwyd League and Gwynedd League were postponed due to frozen grounds as were all rugby games in the Divisions 1 and 2 North.

Colwyn Bay FC's game at Curzon Ashton in the Unibiond League was also called off - the Seagulls' second postponment in three days following the loss of the New Year's Day home game against Trafford.

That means Colwyn Bay will go over a month without any income from a home match, with their next scheduled game at Llanelian Road on January 17.

The only two games to survive in the Welsh Premier League were on The New Saints' artificial pitch (4-1 against NEWI Cefn Druids) and at Port Talbot (1-1 against Aberystwyth).
