Rugby: Nant Conwy look maintain title chase

NANT CONWY will be looking to maintain their seven point lead at the top of the WRU Division 1 North when they return from the Christmas break with a home game against bottom of the table Dolgellau this Saturday.

With main rivals Caernarfon also at home to other relegation candidates Llanidloes, Nant know they need to secure maximum points.

Colwyn Bay are at home to Pwllheli, needing a win to keep them clear of the bottom three, while Llandudno face a testing game at Llangefni.

Other scheduled games (Jan 3) are: Div 1 North: Ruthin v Bala, Mold v Denbigh. Div 2 North: Bangor v Rhyl & District, Bethesda v Wrexham, Machynlleth v Rhosllannerchrugog, Newtown v COBRA, Welshpool v Bro Ffestiniog.

ABERGELE are at home to Flint, hoping to further consolidate second place in Division 4 and keep the pressure on unbeaten leaders Llangefni 2nds.

Abergele have won eight of their 10 league matches so far and are two points behind Llangefni having played a game more.

Third-place Nant Conwy 2nds are away to Caernarfon 2nds.
