Football: Llandudno FC could be punished for cup error

LLANDUDNO fear they may be thrown out of the Cymru Alliance League Cup despite their 3-2 win at Mynydd Isa last month.

That follows a protest lodged by Mynydd Isa that Lee Craven, who came on as a late substitute in the game, was ineligible.

Llandudno were unaware that Craven had played a few minutes as substitute for Airbus UK in the Welsh Premier’s Loosemores League Cup before signing for Llandudno, which makes him ineligible for any other League Cup competitions in Wales this season.

"It was something that we didn’t know about and it looks likely that we will be thrown out of the cup now. That is very disappointing news after getting such a good win at Mynydd Isa," said Grant Montgomery this week.

Better news is that Gwyn Peters is fit after a back injury and new signing Paul Roberts will make his home league debut when Llandudno look for a third consecutive win against Llanfairpwll at Maesdu Park tomorrow night (Friday, October 10).

Joint manager Grant Montgomery and James Cornish have a full squad to choose from and after the victories at Mynydd Isa and Gresford in their last two games, they will be anxious to chalk up their first home win.

They have drawn two and lost one of their previous three games at Maesdu Park this season and are currently 11 points behind league leaders Holyhead Hotspur with two games in hand.
