Running: Golden Welsh treble for Llysfaen competitor

LLYSFAEN runner Tammy Lewis-Jones capped an injury-hit year by securing three gold medals and one bronze at the Welsh 10km Road Race championships at Caernarfon last weekend.

A member of Llandudno-based North Wales Road Runners Club, Tammy vindicated her selection for a North Wales regional team by winning two team gold medals as well as a gold as the Wales ladies over-35 champion. She also won an individual bronze for finishing third lady overall while helping the NWRR club win gold in the ladies team title.

A great day for the club, saw Kay Hatton win the ladies over-45 title and Cliff Wilkinson was first male over-70, while Leanne Emberton was third female under-20 and the senior men's team of Chris Yorke, Alan Jones, Lewis Cox and Kerry Blinston won bronze in the men’s team event.

The NWRR club times were: Adam Jones 36.48, Kerry Blinston 37.40, Tammy Lewis Jones 40.15 (1st lady over-35, 3rd lady overall), Chris Yorke 40.15, Martin Green 41.54, Konrad Roberts 42/37, Lewis Cox 44.38 (pb), Kevin Higgins 44.45, Jack Bradley 46.20, John Walker 47.03, Kay Hatton 47.29 (1st lady over-45), Len Jackson 48.30, Dimitri Pitton 50.03, Leanne Emberton 53.14 (3rd female Under-20), Cliff Wilkinson 59.01 (1st over-70).
