Football: Welsh Alliance results

IT was a case after the Lord Mayor’s show for GLAN CONWY on Tuesday night.

After an 11-goal romp against Newbridge on Wye in the FA Trophy last Saturday, the Cae Ffwt slumped to their first defeat of the season in a 2-1 reverse at Holywell Town in the Design2Print Welsh Alliance.

"Everything we hit went in on Saturday and we played very well in front of goal, but we just never got going against Holywell who playued well, while we were poor, " said manager Paul Moroney.

Holywell were 2-0 up at half-time through Shaun Pritchard and Gareth Thomas and it was only in the 85th minute that Chris Beardmore pulled one back for Glan Conwy.

Last Saturday, Ashley Smith scored six times as Glan Conwy swept into the second round of the Welsh Trophy with an 11-1 win.

Aled Stapleton scored twice and Ross Howcroft Jones, Gavin Roberts and Lee Hughes were the other scorers.

Conwy United’s new manager Eifion Hughes celebrated his first win in charge with a 4-1 victory over Llanberis last Saturday, with Matthew Cassidy scoring two of the goals.
