Cricket: Llanrwst frustrated by rain

LLANRWST remain bottom of the Premier Division after having both their weekend games ended early by the rain.

The weather has been a real frustration for the Gwydir Park side this summer and that continued in their big relegation battle against St Asaph on Monday.

St Asaph had set a target of 176 for 6 off 49 overs, thanks to 69 by their Australian overseas player Johnny De Bartolo, while Tarique Khan (15- 5-29-2) and Trefor Williams (10-1-52-2) were the best of the Llanrwst bowling.

But heavy rain started in the tea interval and prevented Llanrwst making any reply.

Rain also had the final say in last Saturday’s game at Menai Bridge after Llanrwst had been bowled out for 143.

Llanrwst are away to Mold this Saturday.

Llanrwst 2nds had both their weekend games abandoned after one innings due to rain.

Scores: Aug 23: Llanrwst 2nds 121 all out ( Alex Evans 29, S Thomas 22) v Marchwiel and Wrexham 2nds; Aug 25: Llanrwst 2nds 104 all out (S Thomas 38, Stuart Knowles 33 not out) v Menai Bridge 2nds.
