DANIEL JONES of Deganwy beat Chris Slater (Colwyn Bay Legion) 21-14 in the final of the inaugural Welsh Players Association Ranking competition at Abergele Bowling Club last Sunday.
Sixteen of the best players in Wales had qualified for the final day after competing in four rounds of the competition during te summer, but it was 19-year-old Daniel who picked up the £500 first prize and WPA winners shield.
Earlier he had beaten fellow Welsh county bowlers David Jones (Esclusham), Peter Jones (Deganwy) and Kevin Nicholas (Gresford) to reach the final.
