CONWY UNITED have been hit by another huge injury blow with goalkeeper Kyle Dent suffering a broken arm in Tuesday night’s 3-1 defeat against the Blackburn Rovers academy under-19s side in front of a crowd of over 200 at the Morfa.
He was accidently kicked by one of his own defenders as they both went to clear the ball and manager Barry Jones said the young keeper will be out for 10 to 12 weeks.
"It is a big blow and means we have to find a new keeper with the league season only a week away," he said.
"Blackburn kindly allowed us to use their second keeper to see us through the game, and overall I was delighted with our fitness levels and the way we played.
"We matched them for much of the game and it was only in the last 10 minutes that their full-time training told and they got two late goals to win the game."
Blackburn, who included a German youth international and two players who are on the fringe of the first team squad, went ahead from the rebound after a penalty save, but Steve Roberts headed a Conwy equaliser before half-time from a Ricky Jones free kick.
Conwy had a few chances, with Callum Vernon breaking clear only to fire over the bar, but in the last 10 minutes Blackburn went 2-1 up from a second penalty and got a third goal on the break five minutes from the end.
