Bowls: Betws-yn-Rhos to host Wales tie

BETWS-YN-RHOS will host the home leg in Wales’ next match against Cumbria on July 6 in the British Crown Green Bowling Association’s County Championship.

Wales gained a narrow one chalk victory over Lancashire in their first game, but lost by 32 against Derbyshire earlier this month to hit their hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals.

The Wales squad selected is – Home team (at Betws-yn-Rhos): Jason Jones and Paul Whalley (Sunny Rhyl), Gwerydd Buckland (Bangor), John Short (Beaumaris), Geraint Jones, Daniel Jones and Peter Jones (Deganwy), Chris Slater (Colwyn Bay RBL), John Bailey and Anthony Bailey (Llanrwst), Steve Lawley and Ifor Jones (Rhos Park). Reserves: Keith Williams (Penmaenmawr), Mark Whiteley (Rhos Park), Kevin Williams (Llanrwst).

Away team (at Burneside, Kendal): Paul Hallett and Carl Bonatti (Llay), Carl Roberts, Darren Lacy and David Jones (Esclusham), Neale Charlton (Fron Park), Lewis Scott and Gareth Foster (St Asaph), Kevin Nicholas and Andrew Hughes (Gresford Colliery), Kevin Whitlow (Bailey Hill), Roger Morgan (Craig-y-Don).
