Rugby Union: Llandudno are knocked out of the Plate

RUTHIN 35 LLANDUDNO 5

AFTER a very long lay-off a Llandudno side without a number of key players crashed out of the Swalec Plate at Ruthin on Saturday.

The difference between the two teams was in the backs.

Although the home side was at full strength, Llan had the better of the forward exchanges but were unable to use it to any try-scoring advantage.

The match was in Ruthin’s pocket before the interval when they went in with a 20-0 lead.

Both combatants struggled to put their game together after a close-on two-month break, but if Llan had been able to field their best team the outcome might have been different.

However, the home side sealed the win with a total of five tries, two conversions and two penalties, with Llan scoring a consolation try in the final moments through Wesley Jones.

Llan can now concentrate on improving their league position with a final WRU Division One North match of the year this Saturday at Bro Ffestiniog, 2.30pm kick-off.
