Rugby: Last minute penalty keeps Nant Conwy on top

NANT CONWY scored a last minute penalty to snatch a 20-19 victory over Bala and stay seven points clear at the top of rugby's Division 1 North.

 The Conwy Valley side scored tries through wing Iwan Davies, centre Carwyn Ellis and scrum-half Carwyn ap Merddin, who also kicked a conversion and the late match-winning penalty.

 Caernarfon stay second after 10-0 home win over Pwllheli and have two games in hand.

Colwyn Bay eased their relegation fears with an 11-0 home win over Dolgellau with a pushover try for Aled Zackery and two penalties from Ashley James, but Llandudno lost 36-3 away to Mold with a penalty by Rhodri Carlton Jones getting their only points.

  Bro Ffestiniog made it 10 wins out of 10 with a 53-7 victory over Machynlleth to stay nine points clear at the top of Division 2, while second-placed Bethesda beat Bangor 57-0.
