NANT CONWY take on another of their top of the table rivals at home to Ruthin this Saturday (2.30pm) after chalking up an outstanding maximum points 45-15 victory at Mold last weekend to make it five wins out of five.
And Ruthin are also still unbeaten after running in 13 tries in swamping Llanidloes 81- 0 last weekend to move into second place in the table ahead of Mold. That sets up what should be a tremendous tussle at Trefriw this week.
Nant coach Elwyn Williams believes it will be another month before the championship race starts to take real shape, but described last Saturday’s win as "a complete team effort."
They were 12-0 down early in the match to tries by winger Ritchie Hopkins and fly-half Steve Quinton, but a dominant pack got them back into the game and in the end the Conwy Valley side ran in six tries for an outstanding victory against a side that were second in the table at the start of the day.
Ifan Jones, Mark Jones, Carwyn Ellis, Steve Williams, Owain Jones and Carwyn ap Merddin were the Nant try scorers.
"The pack got us back into the game, and to get a bonus point at Mold certainly was a bonus. It was a huge team effort," added the coach.
