JIM DORENBOS will represent Gwynedd in the BDO Gold Cup Men’s Singles at Lakeside on July 11.
The Colwyn Bay thrower, who plays Superleague darts for Penrhyn Arms, earned his place in the last 64 when he edged out Paul Hankin 3-2 in final of the Gwynedd county play–offs.
Penrhyn Arms duo Sam Bradley and Larry Ellis will be county representatives in the Men’s Gold Cup pairs on the same date.
The county Women’s Gold Cup play-offs are at Wellmans, Llangefni on June 9 at 7.45pm.
Gwynedd Women’s team had to settle for second in the Welsh Inter County Championships for a third successive season.
After narrowly losing out in the previous two years, they finished nine points behind champions Glamorgan.
Gwynedd Men’s side, who captured the title in 2007, were fourth this time, 12 points short of top team Glamorgan.
New champions Foelas Arms ended their Gwynedd Men’s Superleague season with a home draw against the BRI to finish 12 points clear at the top.
Alun Pritchard, who won the league’s top average performance for the season, was the Pentrefoelas side’s star man with a 25.47 hit, other victories from team captain Ifor Davies, Warren Green and Clive Davies.
A joint match top average of 26.37 from Ian Gareth Jones and Jim Dorenbos helped Penrhyn Arms to a 6 -2 win at Wynnes Arms, which was enough for the Llandudno outfit to capture runners-up
Richard Ian Jones, Stephen Williams, Iwan Williams and Brendan Keenan were their other winners, the Blaenau team’s successes Mike Beards and Kevin Edwards.
