Football: Late goal gives Conwy United FC victory

CONWY United needed an 88th minute penalty from Toby Jones to secure the 2-1 victory over Pwllheli which returned the Musselmen back to the Welsh Alliance Division One summit on Tuesday night.

Still stunned from Saturday’s FAW Trophy final defeat, Conwy fell behind on 28 minutes when Danny Rylance put in- form Pwllheli 1-0 up.

Jones equalised on 36 minutes and then converted a late spot-kick to make it 42 goals for the season.

Llanrwst United had to settle for a 3-3 home draw with Bethesda Athletic after looking like sure winners at one stage.

Aron Jones (2) and Elliott Llewelyn were the Rwsters marksmen.

Glan Conwy’s patchy form continued as they went down 3-0 at home to FAW Trophy winners Holywell Town.

Owain Roberts, Tony Roebuck and Simon Holloway netted for the Wellmen.

Llandudno Junction were due to play at Denbigh Town last night (Wednesday) as were Abergele Rovers, who were in Barritt Cup semi final action at Caernarfon Town.
