DENBIGH TOWN 3 GLAN CONWY 0
AFTER the previous weekend’s excellent performance in a 1-0 Cookson Cup defeat at Holyhead, Glan Conwy travelled to Denbigh full of confidence but it ended up a bad day for Jon Chapman’s side.
The first half performance was very disappointing, Glan conceding goals to Mike Sharples on 10 minutes and Jon Slater converted a rebound after a fine save from Arron Peel after 31 to make it 2-0 at the break.
Glan came out fired up and took the game to the hosts in the second stanza, pushing them back.
Bobby Tudor almost reduced the deficit when after a great run his shot from the edge of the area hit the post.
Andy Booker headed just wide, Nathan Jones hit the bar, but Ian Evans then broke away for Denbigh in the 89th minute to make it 3-0.
"It was a disappointing result," said Glan secretary Barry Thomas. "In the second half we were much improved, but couldn’t take our chances."
Glan Conwy Reserves’ game at Llandyrnog was called off because no referee turned up.
This weekend Glan’s reserves are away to Connah’s Quay on Friday night with a 7.30pm kick-off and the first team are at home to Llanrug United on Saturday (2pm).
